All Pump Impeller Types : Selection, Features, Applications

What Is Impeller?
Impeller is a rotating part of the pump, mainly used in centrifugal pumps, the pump can be rotated by the impeller to promote fluid movement. The impeller is mainly made of metal and rubber, with wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant and other characteristics.
How Does Impeller Work?
During centrifugal pump operation, the impeller is responsible for converting the mechanical energy of the motor into the kinetic and pressure energy of the fluid.
Centrifugal force is generated through the impeller rotation, the fluid is sucked into the center of the impeller, and during the impeller rotation, the fluid is thrown around the impeller, the fluid flow speed increases, while the kinetic energy of the fluid is converted into pressure energy, and it is discharged from the pump outlet.
Types Of Impeller
1. Open Impeller
Open Impeller Features
The blades of the open impeller are attached directly to the center of the impeller, and are not surrounded by front or rear covers, exposing the blades to the fluid.
The open impeller has open space and is suitable for conveying large particles and medium to high viscosity fluids.
